Week 6

Monday

Skipped Microbiology practical to meet up with guardians for appointment at KK Hospital. After a bit of chit chat with the doctor, proceeded to take blood for DNA sequencing for spinocerebellar ataxia type 3. This is supposed to get a 2nd opinion with respect to the test done in UK in year 2004 with test result 78 repeat of CAG. The nurse who took my blood had a shock of her life. After puncturing the needle into my vein, as she pulled the piston, bubbles were collected. She panicked, shoulted for assistance. She pressed onto my vein to prevent blood from oozing out. Assistance came, she changed the syringe tube with the needle remained in my vein. Meanwhile we asked her why there was air bubbles but she failed to give us a satisfactory explanation. This was my first time to have a lingering pain jab.

Tuesday

Tabitha, Head of Mindsports Club informed me that I would be joining the semi final of the BRAND’S® SUDOKU CHALLENGE SINGAPORE 2007 on 8th June and final on 9th June if I manage to get through the 8th June. Incidentally, it clashed with my Stage Arts camp from 8th to 10th June. Good to know that Hasyima, Head of TMT has no issue with it.

Wednesday

Went on a field trip to Oh Farms, a herbs and spices farm for the Elective Complementary and Alternative Medincine module. Ms Wee Ping went too. Photos taken:

Thursday

Had the quiz for Microbiologyfor Food Science. Due to lack of time, there were 2 choices: memorise and understand the mechanism or memorise pecular facts. I chose the 1st one. In the end, it turned out that out of 25 MCQs, there were about 3 to 5 questions on pecular facts. Therefore, it is gone case.

Friday

Gotten back the Inorganic Chemistry report. Was told to give a summary of what I wrote for the last question. What I put was long explaination using numbers.

Gotten back the Introduction to Food Science report. Was told that I could do better than that. What I put was the summary of the introduction.

At night, attended the Stage Arts Orientation night. More of a Seniors-Showcasing-What-They-Have-Established-And-Capable-Of Session. 2 drama performances, some dance performances, 2 seniors sang Beautiful Liar, 2 games, junior cosplay contest and senior cosplay cat walk.

Saturday

Slept till 2pm. Then slept again from 3 to 6pm. Dinner went to Junction 8 for Ajisen Ramen. 1st time eating it since I came to Singapore for 10 years.

What happened 28 weeks later

I went to watch 28 Weeks Later (M18) at Jubilee on Saturday.

In my opinion, this movie worth my S$9.50. A little humour, horror, gore, plot, vulgar language into a nice little package. However, in comparison to
The Hill Have Eyes 2, this should have been NC16 instead.

The only joke in the movie was between the bored snipers on duty.

Sniper 1: We are fighting a war with no one to shoot at.
Sniper 2: [Looking into telescope] X floor the guy in the toilet.
Sniper 1: Ow man, not him again, shooting with his hands again. (Read: Masturbation)
Sniper 2: And I thought you are a master in hand-to-hand combat?

1. After 28 weeks after the rage virus outbreak, there was a zone that had been declared as safe whereas its surrounding area were yet to be cleaned up.

2. Some British were to inhibit the zone.

3. 2 children, one elder sister and a younger brother with the pupils in his eyes of mismatched colours among the youngest to be inhibited.

4. They met their father.

5. They missed their home in the contaminated zone, the next day they ran home.

6. Found their mother in the house.

7. After blood analysis, the mother had natural immunity to the rage virus but she stilled carried the virus with her. Incidentally, she had mismatched pupils, too.

8. Father met mother, wanted forgiveness of running away like chicken and did not save her from being attacked by virus-infected people months ago.

9. Father kissed mother, saliva exchange. In seconds, he became infected.

10. He got to infect many more people.

11. US army activated Code Red. When their containment failed, termination commenced, killed everything in sight.

12. The children ran away together with a medical Major and a sniper.

13. They ran some more.

14. Sniper contacted his buddy in helicopter. Chopper guy told him to run to somewhere to pick him up. The air force would be bombing the whole zone.

15. They ran some more. They met chopper guy who refused to carry anyone other than sniper.

16. Chopper attracted virus-infected people. Chopper guy left, the group ran.

17. Chopper guy gave sniper new place to meet.

18. The group ran some more. Sniper died to flamethrower when he pushed a car to run. Chemical gas was spread around the zone to kill infected people by then.

19. Medic Major died in subway after being stabbed by the children's father.

20. Boy met father who feasted on him. Girl shot him dead.

21. Boy ran away from his sister, thinking he might start to mutate and harm her.

22. Boy got immunity. They ran some more towards the meeting point with chopper guy.

23. Chopper guy was expecting sniper guy but since sniper guy was dead so he bo bian took those children.

24. [28 days later]

25. We see the interior of the empty helicopter.

26. We see a bunch of infected people running.

27. The end.

It is extremely annoying to have a dangling ending.

The next would be 28 Months Later?

Daily Curio

Wei Mun called me on my mobile phone asking for the fill-in-the-blanks for Aqueous Solution III notes. Subsequently, he called me a few more times for enquiries. That was perfectly alright.

Then I received a SMS which I thought would be from Wei Mun. Nay, it was from Yun Xuan, asking if I managed to balance Q2b and 2c of the tutorial. Being a little lazy to talk, I switched on my laptop and went to MSN. I was surprised that she was not online...Did that mean she SMS just to ask for my opinion? -_-" Anyway, I replied through phone in the end.

At night, after the movie, via MSN, some people started asking about the lab report for Microbiology to Food Science. Being a
procrastinator, I had yet to do the report. Then Esther asked me how many circles to draw etc which forced me to refer to the practical manual. There were several issues which I was certainly not certain about.

She: [Question]
Me: [Speculated answer] that's my guess
She: confirm ar / wrong ur afult wor / haha / jk
Me: TT
She: confirm ar / [Another question]
Me: have you asked others yet?
She: nope
Me: o_o"

That made me wonder: Have I became all-knowing omnipotence? I don't mind helping out if I am willing and able to but it worried me of the phenomenon of [friends when I have question] which had been proven correct right after both 'O' and 'A' Level Examinations. My classmates in my MSN contacts are largely forgetable as there would be no further communication, least when they got questions like do I know how to use XXX software etc. Well, that may have to attribute to my personality but it is like 2 years of togetherness just gone *poof* and it pains to see those contacts in MSN. No point and lazy to transfer contacts from my old MSN to the new one.

Peter, you shall be honoured that you are the only person I can regard as true friend of mine: One who can absorb all my insults, taunts and shuans, able to solve each other's problems and still talk cock freely after so long.

Sickening

The time of the year comes again.

I am sickening.

The crazy weather makes my nose running out of track and my throat pain even just to swallow down my own apple.

What to do when my resistance and tolerance against low temperature sucks?

Jackets!

NSSC was better then as I had to be air-conditioned from 8am to 5.30pm. Now is school, every few hours keep changing the enviroment I am in.

Anyway, it has been a few months since I last gotten sick, therefore it is about time for one now.

I could feel it coming after I had MOS burger with Peter on Wednesday.

In school, fatique slowly crept up to me. Fortunately, till now there is no fever.

It seem that I always fall sick on Thursdays and Fridays. This means I have to get well before Monday, which means no MCs.

I am a record maintainer of having 0 MCs during my NSF time.

Standard Operation Procedure (SOP) to cure Minor Sickness for Loner 101:
1. Feed yourself.
2. Pop 2 panadols.
3. Sleep in an enclosed sleeping bag, without turning on the fan or worse, air-conditioner.
4. Don't wake up until at least 12 hours later.

Woondlands Trip

Yesterday after school, I intended to go to Ang Mo Kio to check my bank account and waste my time there. However, in a flurry of conversation with Peter and seeing the train that had just arrived, I rushed into it......towards the opposite direction of my designated destination. As I be antagonised to spend 5 minutes to go to Khatib then wait for train and spend another 5 minutes to reach Yio Chu Kang, the lazy side of me decided to go for Woodlands instead.

Upon arrival, the 1st thing to check: is there a pusar going on? Positive. I proceeded to tour around the Causeway Point but nothing interest me. The POSB ATM on the 1st floor is faulty because one of the number keys is not responsive. The one at Basement seem to work but seeing the queue of minimum 20 people, taking average of 1 minute per person, it would take 20 x 1 = 20 minutes of waiting time......Head for Mac Donald's instead.

Upon entrance, there was no visible comfortable sits available for 1 consumer. Proceed to queuing. The next moment, a couple was about to leave. In front of me, another couple was looking for sits too......Once my path was clear, I rushed for the victory sit. The other couple was disappointed at their miss. Life Skill 101 for Loner, (wo)man! Ordered the promotional meal. I am always impressed by those who could take my orders:

Double Fillet-o-Fish Meal
Up size
Add 1 dollar for corn cup
Drink change to Sprite
No ice
No need sauces
5 packets of pepper and 3 pack of salt
Having here
Member

Ok......She forgot about the ice but she apologized when I pointed out as she was about to shove the ice into the cup.

After the meal, I went to the pusar and hunted for the Acrylic Keychain Makers. Found one and I inspected the way the key ring is being secured onto the acrylic. Those who saw right through it make brittle ones while those who drill holes make sturdy one, like the one on my bunch of keys, 3 years and seasoned. I placed my order but sadly that guy did not have translucent white. Upon receiving the finished product, I realised a fatal mistake on my part: unlike the very 1st Keychain Maker, the rest are rather stingy (read: cut cost) and minimise the use of the acrylic. Without the width, the word lacks impact. Sigh.

Reached home at around 8pm. After the usual routine, slept at 9pm and now I am awaken at 11am. It has been at least one month for a more-than-12-hour-sleep. Shiok.
